Delete uploaded picture

Hi,
When user upload picture and then decide to change it, he first should delete the previous pic then upload a new one.
The old picture remain on the file system, it is not really deleted.

is there a specific reason to keep these old images on the system or is it possible to consider a real delete because it can quickly become a problem in terms of storage.
